    The International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), under the framework of SERVIR Himalaya, and YoungInnovations bring you International Space Apps Challenge 2015 in Kathmandu for the third time in collaboration with Alternative Energy Promotion Center (AEPC) and supported by Women Leaders in Technology (WLIT), Karkhana, Robotics Association of Nepal (RAN)GAME Studios and CSIT Association of Nepal (CSITAN)

    Who can Participate?

    Anyone with a broad range of skills can participate. We are looking for engineers, technologists, scientists, designers, artists, educators, students, entrepreneurs – anyone who has a passion for changing the world and is willing to contribute. We would like to encourage more female participation this year to showcase their talent and skills.

    How to participate?

    To participate, each individual has to register, create one's own profile and join location - in our case, Kathmandu. Following is the list of steps to register: 

    • Click Register button at the top right. 
    • Search for Kathmandu and click 'Sign me up to attend'.
    • Click 'Create Account' or visit https://2015.spaceappschallenge.org/account/signup/
    • Put your information and click 'Sign up'
    • You will already be logged in. Click 'Join An Event'.
    • Search for Kathmandu and Click 'I want to Attend Space Apps Kathmandu' button.

    Challenges

    There are 25 challenges in four areas: Earth, Outer Space, Humans and Robotics. Please visit 'Challenges' section for more information. In addition to these challenges, we have local challenges which we have been working on. They can be accessed here. Please do comment in the challenges if you have any confusions and queries. We will answer them as quickly as possible.  

    Participants taking up the local challenge will not be eligible for Global judging. However, they might get opportunity to work on and refine their apps even after the event with the support of SERVIR Himalaya,ICIMOD and other relevant agencies.

    Judging Criteria

    Impact (Weightage: 30%)

    If the product is completed, does it solve the challenge? To what degree does the product try to create an impact in solving the problem in the challenge?

    Collaboration (Weightage: 10%)

    Are the team members working together? Are the responsibilities spread equally among the team members? Can you see the product output as per the number of team members?

    Product (Weightage: 30%)

    How complete is the product? Do they have a long way to go? How user friendly is the technology?

    Presentation (Weightage: 30%)

    How well did the team communicate? Are they effective in telling the story of the project and why it is important? How well did they respond to questions from judges?
